Tekno Telecom Signs Another NetQuest Customer . . .
Dakota Carrier Network

Naperville, IL – March 10, 2010 – Tekno Telecom, a leading manufacturer of hardware and software to monitor SS7, VOIP and IMS networks, today announces the signing of yet another NetQuest system customer, Dakota Carrier Network (DCN). DCN will be using Tekno’s NetAnalyzer and NetAlert for their network monitoring, surveillance and CDR generation. This system non-intrusively alarms and reports on all their SS7 links, and provides SS7, ISUP and TCAP call and transaction detail records.

“After an extensive competitive analysis and much deliberation, we decided to deploy Tekno’s NetAnalyzer and NetAlert for our network monitoring and CDR generation because it will do everything required in the day-to-day operation for monitoring, maintenance and reporting perspectives of running a statewide SS7 network,” said Jody Sommer, network technician for DCN. “Call tracing across all of our links and member links will assist in trouble isolation, performance and statistical analysis. Easy-to-read protocol analysis and SS7 call and transactional correlation provides us with the details to investigate and resolve pretty much any SS7 issue that may arise. User-friendliness, along with the performance of Tekno’s NetQuest system, is going to provide DCN’s operations with an easy-to-use GUI and filtration capabilities for investigating and reporting on any ISUP and TCAP component that transits across DCN’s network and the entire state of North Dakota.”

Don Pedersen, operations manager for DCN, stated, “Alarming on the links with Tekno’s NetAlert application is going to enhance our reporting capability and is going to provide a quicker trouble isolation response for DCN’s operational staff that will ultimately provide our members with a more robust SS7 network inter-connection for their local, long distance and TCAP-based services.”

“Over the last few years, DCN (being a member-owned company) has been enhancing their SS7 network with new switching equipment and felt that performance monitoring, reporting and the collection of SS7 traffic was an essential element of their offering to the member companies,” said Sam Galler, vice president of sales and marketing for Tekno Telecom. “With the accuracy and correlation capabilities of the Tekno system, DCN will now have the ability to non-intrusively generate ISUP and TCAP call detail records (CDRs) and transactional detail records (TDRs) that can also be shared with their member companies, if required for CABS verification, and internal audits, etc., from an SS7 perspective.”

About Dakota Carrier Network

Owned by companies that share the same commitment to North Dakota

  • DCN, LLC (dba, Dakota Carrier Network) was created in 1996 by 15 independent rural telecommunications companies representing 85% of all the telephone exchanges in North Dakota and over 90% of the state's total surface area.

  • DCN member companies currently serve over 164,000 customers in 244 communities with the most advanced hardware and software. DCN and its member companies have over 10,000 miles of fiber optic cable installed across North Dakota.

Served by technology that continues to grow with its customers

  • DCN serves every community in North Dakota, providing services that include Carrier Ethernet, Private Line, ATM, Frame Relay and high speed Internet access. DCN has eight Points of Presence (POP’s) in North Dakota enabling interconnections with local exchange carriers and national service providers. DCN’s Network Operations Center (NOC) is located in Bismarck, ND and the Corporate Headquarters in Fargo, ND.

  • DCN recently performed a multimillion dollar upgrade to the backbone network using Nortel DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) technology. This upgrade increased DCN’s overall network capacity by nearly 300 times. While continuing to offer OC-48 SONET rings throughout the state, DWDM enables DCN to offer up to 10 Gbps Carrier Ethernet Service. This major network upgrade accommodates the increasing bandwidth demand for video, voice and data traffic.

    Recognized by national organizations

  • North Dakota has been honored by several publications and organizations as having one of the best data networks in the United States. The State of North Dakota deploys DCN’s network to support a statewide virtual private network, bringing high-speed network technologies to every school district and government body in the state.

Tekno equipment has been utilized by existing member companies in the state for over 5 years and has provided those companies detailed information for troubleshooting and inter-carrier reporting.

About Tekno Telecom, LLC

Tekno started in 1968 in the telecom sector and has installed over 10,000 systems worldwide. Migrating from call accounting systems to traffic management solutions (which front-ended switches) to call completion systems, Tekno has been a pillar of telecom network management, maintenance, and revenue assurance solutions, focusing on high return on investment systems for wireline, wireless and next-generation carriers. Tekno has consistently brought to market products that were more advanced and accurate than its competitors. Its engineering team has generated numerous patents, which today allows offering supremely efficient and accurate systems necessary for today's carriers to confidently know what is occurring in their networks in order to solve problems and collect the revenues due to them. Tekno's focus has consistently relied on data/information collected, not from the switch, but directly from the network (MF, SS7, SIP and IMS, etc.). Network data is rich in information and Tekno's products use advanced techniques to extract and correlate tremendous volumes of data into useful information for the carriers. Most importantly, Tekno is on the cutting edge of technology and is ready for today's newest networks while still supporting legacy telecom networks.
